How Traditions Read This Prophecy
Apostolic (Oneness) PentecostalHebrews applies this to Jesus: made 'a little lower than the angels' — the incarnation — then 'crowned with glory and honour,' with 'all things put under his feet' (Heb. 2:7-9; 1 Cor. 15:27). The one God, having stooped into true humanity, is exalted as the glorified Man with dominion over all; the humbling and the crowning are the one Lord Jesus.
JewishA meditation on humanity's God-given dignity and dominion over creation (Gen. 1:26-28); 'son of man' is mankind, crowned as steward of the world.
CatholicRead both of humanity's dignity and, through Hebrews, of Christ — the incarnate Son lowered then crowned, restoring the dominion lost in Adam.
ProtestantHebrews 2 applies it Christologically — Jesus, made lower than the angels in His humanity, now crowned, with all things subjected to Him (though not yet visibly so).
