How Traditions Read This Prophecy
Apostolic (Oneness) Pentecostal'The man whose name is The BRANCH... shall build the temple of the LORD... and he shall be a priest upon his throne.' This is the Lord Jesus — both King and Priest (Heb. 4:14; 7), uniting offices no mere man could hold. He builds the true temple (John 2:19-21) and is Himself the temple (Rev. 21:22); the one God reigns and intercedes in the person of Christ.
JewishAn oracle crowning the high priest Joshua and pointing to the 'Branch' who will rebuild the temple and join priestly and royal honor — a hope of restored Davidic-priestly rule.
