How Traditions Read This Prophecy
Apostolic (Oneness) Pentecostal'Oh that the salvation of Israel were come out of Zion!' — the cry answered in the Lord Jesus, the salvation of God who comes out of Zion to turn ungodliness from Jacob (Rom. 11:26; Isa. 59:20). When Israel looks on Him whom they pierced (Zech. 12:10), Jacob rejoices; the Savior out of Zion is the one God in Christ.
JewishA longing for God's deliverance of Israel from Zion and the return of the captivity — the hope of national restoration and rejoicing.
CatholicThe salvation out of Zion fulfilled in Christ, the Redeemer who comes for the restoration of God's people.
ProtestantPaul echoes this hope (Rom. 11:26, citing Isa. 59:20) — the Deliverer comes out of Zion; fulfilled in Christ and consummated in Israel's future salvation.
