How Traditions Read This Prophecy
Apostolic (Oneness) Pentecostal'This is the Father's will... that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.' The Son does the Father's will and Himself raises the dead at the last day — the work of God alone. The Father who gives and the Son who raises are the one God; the believer's resurrection is secured in the Lord Jesus.
JewishResurrection 'at the last day' is the Jewish hope (cf. Martha, John 11:24; Dan. 12:2); the Son's agency in raising is the Johannine distinctive.
CatholicChrist's promise to raise believers at the last day; the security of those given to Him by the Father (cf. the Catechism).
