How Traditions Read This Prophecy
Apostolic (Oneness) PentecostalGod swears that David will never lack a man to sit on the throne, nor the Levitical priests a man to offer — the perpetuity of king and priest. This converges in the Lord Jesus, the Branch of righteousness (v. 15), who is both the everlasting King on David's throne (Luke 1:32-33) and the eternal Priest (Heb. 7). The two offices that could never both rest on one man in Israel meet in the one Lord Jesus — God in flesh, King and Priest for ever.
