How Traditions Read This Prophecy

JewishRead as national restoration after Assyrian judgment — revival of Israel as a people. Not Messianic in standard rabbinic interpretation.
CatholicPatristic tradition (Origen, Jerome) sees this as prophetic of the resurrection on the third day, fulfilling Paul's 'according to the Scriptures' (1 Cor 15:4).
ProtestantPaul's 'according to the Scriptures' likely alludes here. Corporate Israel's restoration is a type of Christ's resurrection.
