How Traditions Read This Prophecy
Apostolic (Oneness) PentecostalGod woos unfaithful Israel back: 'I will allure her... and speak comfortably unto her... I will betroth thee unto me for ever... in righteousness... and in mercies.' And the covenant refrain returns: 'I will say... Thou art my people; and they shall say, Thou art my God' (v. 23). The Husband who betroths His people forever is the Lord Jesus, the Bridegroom (Eph. 5:25-27); Paul cites v. 23 of God's mercy on Jew and Gentile (Rom. 9:25).
