1:11Then shall the children of Judah and the children of Israel be gathered together, and appoint themselves one head, and they shall come up out of the land: for great shall be the day of Jezreel.

How Traditions Read This Prophecy
Apostolic (Oneness) PentecostalWhere God had said 'Lo-ammi — ye are not my people,' He now promises, 'ye are the sons of the living God,' and they shall 'appoint themselves one head.' Paul applies this to the calling of both Jews and Gentiles into God's people (Rom. 9:25-26; 1 Pet. 2:10). The 'one head' under whom the scattered are gathered is the Lord Jesus, the one Shepherd (John 10:16). God turns the rejected into His own children in Christ.
JewishThe reversal of judgment — 'not my people' becomes 'sons of the living God,' Israel and Judah reunited under one head and greatly multiplied; the hope of restoration.
CatholicThe 'not my people' made God's children, fulfilled in the calling of the Gentiles and the gathering of all under Christ the one Head (Rom. 9).
ProtestantPaul cites this (Rom. 9:25-26) of God's mercy calling a people — Jew and Gentile — to be sons of God in Christ.
