How Traditions Read This Prophecy
Apostolic (Oneness) PentecostalThe first land promise to Abram. God kept it — Israel possessed Canaan (Josh. 21:43; Neh. 9:8). Yet the New Testament reveals its deeper horizon: Abraham looked for 'a better country, that is, an heavenly' (Heb. 11:16), and the true Seed is Christ (Gal. 3:16), in whom the promise to 'thy seed' is fulfilled and all nations blessed. Apostolic teaching honors God's faithfulness to Israel while seeing the land as a pledge of the everlasting inheritance secured in the Lord Jesus.
JewishThe foundational title-deed to the land of Israel; the LORD's grant of Canaan to Abraham's descendants — the bedrock of Jewish connection to the land.
