How Traditions Read This Prophecy
Apostolic (Oneness) PentecostalGod speaks to the desolate 'mountains of Israel,' promising they shall be tilled, sown, and inhabited again, never more bereaved. The God who reverses desolation and restores His land is the one God whose redemptive purpose runs through Israel to its consummation in the new creation (Rev. 21-22). His covenant faithfulness to the land prefigures the restoration of all things in Christ.
JewishA direct address of hope to the land of Israel itself — promised renewed fruitfulness and population after devastation; a cherished restoration text.
CatholicThe restoration of the land, read as a sign of the renewal God works for His people, fulfilled ultimately in the new creation.
