How Traditions Read This Prophecy

Apostolic (Oneness) Pentecostal'Christ our passover is sacrificed for us.' The Passover lamb of Exodus 12 — its blood sparing Israel from death — was always a shadow of the Lord Jesus, the Lamb of God (John 1:29) whose blood saves us. God provided the true Lamb by becoming the sacrifice; the One who passed over Israel in Egypt is the One slain for us in Christ.
JewishPassover (Pesach) commemorates the exodus deliverance by the lamb's blood; the application to Jesus as the Passover is not part of Jewish observance.
CatholicChrist the true Paschal Lamb, sacrificed for us — the heart of the Eucharist and the Paschal Mystery (cf. the Catechism).
ProtestantJesus is the fulfillment of the Passover lamb; His blood redeems, as the lamb's blood spared Israel (Exod. 12; 1 Pet. 1:19).
AcademicPaul links Christ's death to Passover; the timing of the crucifixion relative to Passover (Synoptics vs. John) is much discussed.
