The Art of Prophecy

A Gallery of Bible Prophecy Engravings

Across the centuries, the prophecies of Scripture have been rendered in art. This gallery gathers the illustrations that accompany Bible Prophecy Explorer — from Daniel in the lions’ den to the New Jerusalem — each paired with the passage it depicts.

Most are classic wood engravings by Gustave Doré (1832–1883), from La Grande Bible de Tours (1866), now in the public domain. Two plates — the Resurrection and Nebuchadnezzar’s Dream — are original AI-generated illustrations created for this site and labelled as such.

Scenes span the whole prophetic arc — the Old Testament prophets, the life and Passion of Christ, Pentecost and the birth of the Church, and the visions of the end in Revelation.
